The problem
A bottle of palm oil, a bar of chocolate, a cup of coffee — each is a blend from dozens or hundreds of farms. When deforestation, land-grabbing, or forced labour hides somewhere in that chain, nobody can see it. From the end of 2026, Europe will simply refuse goods that can't prove they are deforestation-free, all the way back to the plot of land they grew on.
